Thank You…

November 11, 2011 By JulieK

I always hesitate on Veteran’s Day… “Happy” Veteran’s Day just doesn’t sound right to me… But maybe the perfect sentiment is “Thank You.” Thank you to all the brave men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to protect me and my family and our way of live.  Thank you to the families of those brave men and women as well… In my opinion, the families are just as brave… Thank you.

This Veteran’s Day, Operation Write Home is hosting an 11 stop blog hop to say “Thank You”  I was thrilled when my favorite ribbon company May Arts let us know that they were participating…  You can see the May Arts Blog Post Here.  Here’s the 2 cards I created for the blog hop… Both use Bo Bunny patterned papers from the “Liberty” line, and that beautiful red grosgrain May Arts ribbon.  The stamps are Technique Tuesday… Please check out the hop and say “Thank You” to anyone who’s served our country…

Made for Monday (June 20)

June 20, 2011 By JulieK

I talked on Thursday about how much I love the kids’ school :) and last week showed you what I made for all the specialist teachers… For their main teachers (remember, it’s Catholic school), I purchased each one a beautiful rosary bracelet from Graceful Rosaries (which I’ve talked about before… if you’re looking for beautiful religious jewelry or rosaries, please check her out… I’ve purchased a total of 6 adult rosary bracelets, and also had her make a tenner for Sean and a small matching bracelet for Kathryn… Beautiful work).  Ok… So, I got  them each a beautiful bracelet, they each got the little desk set that the other teachers got… And, I made each of them this little card box… It’s just like the one I created for the Cards for the Cure event back in May, but I used Studio Calico patterned papers… I ACTUALLY used papers that I bought, for the reason that I bought them!!! Now, I may have to go and buy more so that I can hoard it :)  Here’s the boxes and the cards that I made for them…

Thankful Thursday!

May 19, 2011 By JulieK

***I’m interrupting this Thankful Thursday post with a happy reminder that I’m teaching at a breast cancer fundraiser next week… Wednesday, May 25th at Wilmington Middle School… Cards for the Cure is a wonderful workshop where we’ll be making a beautiful box and matching card set… ALL proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen 3-day walk that my friend Ryan is doing… See all the DETAILS HERE and the pictures of the project can be found HERE… let me know if you’re interested!! OK… back to your regularly scheduled post :) ***

Happy, Happy Thursday!! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week… I have to say, this weather is simply depressing… Rain, Rain,  MORE Rain… Blech!! I am ready for some sunshine (which we *might* get on Sunday…) But, this isn’t “Complain about the weather Thursday” So, here’s what I’m thankful for this week… AND… being on the 3rd floor of a rather large building without A/C and with 23 or so school days left… I SHOULD be thankful that it’s not sweltering yet :)

I’m so looking forward to Saturday, and spending the afternoon with little Mia celebrating her first birthday!!! First, she’s just about the cutest child EVER (aside from my own of course :)… And, second, we get to see her wonderful Mom and Dad (Mike’s cousins) and his other cousins too, who I just love dearly and wish they lived closer!!! That is going to be a fun family-filled day!

I’m getting glasses! I know that most people are  not thankful for that, but honestly, being able to see clearly is going to be *awesome* (sung in a sing-songy voice, as all “awesomes” should be :) AND I was talking about it to our school resource officer this morning… and he said “You usually don’t have to worry about that til you’re 40” OMG, I laughed right out loud and told him he made my day :) He says he seriously is surprised that I’m 42… and I’m choosing to believe him ’cause it made my day (and he has NO qualms about saying whatever he actually thinks! :)

Seeing your projects on manufacturer websites just never gets old :) I have a project uploaded to the Creative Memories   Project Center… Those Farm Stickers are so cute, and I just love everything about the “Rugged” line of papers…

I think the last thing for the week… And, although my dear husband hasn’t been convinced yet… I’m looking into a Master’s in Theology… or maybe a certificate program of some sort… I’ve found some great online programs, but haven’t really narrowed it down too much yet, because many of them have some sort of on campus requirement… or are simply too expensive… the question from my somewhat more practical (not for himself) husband is “What good is that?” meaning that I certainly won’t get paid more in my public school job for that :) BUT I find it interesting, and fascinating… and want to know more about it… and Knowledge is Power :) right??  Anyway, we’ll see…

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!!

Made for Monday

April 11, 2011 By JulieK

Wow!! This week’s “Made for Monday” starts out with some exciting news!!! On Friday, I got 2 emails requesting projects for upcoming magazines!!!! O.M.Gosh!!! I am so excited!!! It’s been a long time since I’ve had a project requested (I NEED to actually submit to have projects picked up, go figure…) and to have 2 picked up is super exciting!!! I’m going to have a card published in the August Cricut Magazine, and another one in the Cricut Cards idea book!!! Yippee!!!! Both projects are using the Creative Memories Cricut Cartridges (between the 2 cards, I used all 3 cartridges) and Creative Memories papers as well… I can’t share those cards until September… But I can now share 2 cards that didn’t make the cut!

Here’s a teacher-themed-ish Thank You card… All patterned papers are Creative Memories, and I used the Cheerful Seasons Cartridge for the apple and the font…

Here’s a side view… You can see the apple stands out (I have a serious addiction to the Creative Memories foam squares!)

And here’s a Birthday Card… I used Creative Memories papers and the new Stork’s Delivery Cricut Cartridge:

Here’s a close-up so you can see the candles and the brackets are popped, yup… those foam squares again :)

I’ll share the other cards when I’m able to (but not til September). They’re going in the mail today!!! Did I mention that I’m excited?
