Made for Monday (June 20)

June 20, 2011 By JulieK

I talked on Thursday about how much I love the kids’ school :) and last week showed you what I made for all the specialist teachers… For their main teachers (remember, it’s Catholic school), I purchased each one a beautiful rosary bracelet from Graceful Rosaries (which I’ve talked about before… if you’re looking for beautiful religious jewelry or rosaries, please check her out… I’ve purchased a total of 6 adult rosary bracelets, and also had her make a tenner for Sean and a small matching bracelet for Kathryn… Beautiful work).  Ok… So, I got  them each a beautiful bracelet, they each got the little desk set that the other teachers got… And, I made each of them this little card box… It’s just like the one I created for the Cards for the Cure event back in May, but I used Studio Calico patterned papers… I ACTUALLY used papers that I bought, for the reason that I bought them!!! Now, I may have to go and buy more so that I can hoard it :)  Here’s the boxes and the cards that I made for them…

Made for Monday!

June 13, 2011 By JulieK

Yeah!! In this installment of Made for Monday… I have 2 major things :) First is the little table gifts that I made for this past weekend’s Anniversary Crop for the wonderful croppers who came to celebrate 1 year at Late Night Croppers!!  I made these little hand sanitizer containers, and matching post-it note holders… When I finished them, I realized that they would make a cute little gift for the teachers at the kids’ school… So, I made them in a “teacher” version too :)  They are super easy to make, but I think that they are also super cute!!

Here’s the version I made for Late Night Croppers (papers are My Mind’s Eye)… The post-it holders are the little acrylic frames, so they sit on the table at a little angle…

Here’s a side view of the hand sanitizer… You can kind of see how it works… there’s a little piece of velcro holding the flap shut, so it can be opened and closed easily…

And, the teacher’s version… Instead of hoarding this BEAUTIFUL Studio Calico paper, I actually used to to make gifts!!! I may have to purchase more just so I CAN hoard it ’cause I love it so much :) I’m using the apple paper (that goes with the line) for the kids’ main teachers’ gifts in addition to these… I’ll post pics when I’m done… Needs to be soon ’cause their last day is Friday :)

The original idea for the Hand Sanitizer container came from one of my favorite blogs… Dawn’s Stamping Thoughts… BUT, of course, my hand sanitizer was a different size… So, the dimensions etc are completely different… took some trial and error, but I love how they came out!!

And… I have the July Zutter Book for the next class at Ink About It in Westford all done!! It uses the fabulous “Liberty” line by Bo Bunny… But, it’s not necessarily a 4th of July book… Could be used for any fun pictures!!! It uses cover-alls :) Here’s a sneak peek of the front cover… Give the store a call if you want to join in the class!! You don’t need to have your own Zutter machine, I always bring mine :) New people are always welcome!

and a little side view of the little pinwheel…

Whew! That’s about it for now… Still have a bunch of projects to finish up… but making some headway!!

Made for Monday

June 6, 2011 By JulieK

Today’s installment of “Made for Monday” is a preview of my upcoming Zutter Class at Ink About It  in Westford!! We’ll be making this fun 8×8 Summer themed book THIS THURSDAY!! June 9, starting at 6:30pm. If you’re interested, please call the store asap to get on the list! The cover is acrylic, and the back is white chipboard… The inside pages fold out… It uses (super fun) Echo Park patterned papers!!! Here’s the cover… I took the picture outside, so ignore the “tree glare” on the acrylic :) It’s really clear, with the fun stickers on the cover…

When you open the front cover… All the pages have one side that opens out…

and the next side, opens from the middle…

There’s lots more pages, but you’ll have to come to class to see them all!!! Hope to see you Thursday!!!

AND :) I just saw my name as a “Cameo Ribbonista” with May Arts!!! Yeah!!! I am so excited to be working with such fabulous ribbons!!! I’ll be creating projects every other month as a regular guest!!! Thanks so much May Arts!!!! Check out the post here…

Zutter Class This Thursday!!!

May 10, 2011 By JulieK

Do you already have plans for Thursday?? Check out this next class at Ink About It in Westford… This Thursday evening, 6:30-about 8:30 We’ll be making this book… It’s not super-embellished as it is, but you’ll be getting the matching sticker sheet to embellish depending on your theme… These fabulous Bo Bunny papers make a perfect gift for Father’s Day, and the vintage feel would work for any other theme as well!!! Take a quick peek at the cover and inside (it uses pocket folders, so lots of space for photos or memorabilia). That’s May Arts Raffia on the tags and the book closure…

Here’s the Cover…

And a peek at one of the inside pages…

Call the Store if you’re interested in this class!! I always bring my Zutter, so even if you’ve never heard of the machine before… Come to class!!  I’ll show you how to use it, and you’ll go home with a completed book at the end of the evening!!

May Arts Finalist Project

May 9, 2011 By JulieK

Hi Everyone!! I am just thrilled to be a finalist in the May Arts Design Team Call!! Oh My Goodness, their ribbons are just beautiful!!  If you remember, I made an altered birdhouse for my first project, you can see all the details for that one HERE.  For this next project, I made some altered letters… The Crop Space needed a little something to liven it up for spring, and here’s what I made!! It was a quick and EASY project, and I think it came out super cute!

Ingredients:

Wooden Letters (purchased at Michaels)

Patterned Papers KaiserCraft Bubble Gum Hills Collection

May Arts Ribbons:
Stripes
Check Stitch
Stitched Center
Sheer Loop Trim
Organic Cotton Stripes (blue)

I started with wooden letters. They’re about 8 inches tall, and were available in all the letters so you can spell whatever word you’d like.

Once I chose the papers, I took each letter, put the paper face down, and placed the letter on top (also face down). Then trace the letter on the back of the paper.  Carefully cut out each letter.  Another option is to adhere the letters to the paper, then cut out with an exacto knife… But I personally have much better luck with scissors than exactos!!

I placed the papers on the letters to be sure that they fit nicely.  Before I glued them down, I used a little brown ink around the edges. The letters are cute with the pretty patterned paper, but they needed a little something to make them special!! Yes, May Arts Ribbon is JUST what they needed!!

I took some of my favorite May Arts Ribbons, and added them to my letters.  With this fabulous Orange Stripe Ribbon, I tied it around the letter S in a simple bow.

I tied 3 little knots around the C with this fun ribbon.

This adorable little orange ribbon was wound around the R 3 times before I tied the little bow.

I tied knots at the top and bottoms in the pale pink ribbon before adhering and outlining  the letter A.

Another simple bow in the blue stripe finishes off the P.

Here’s the finished word again… The ribbons really add that little bit of “pop” that the letters needed to be really finished.
