Yeah! It’s Yarn Season!!

October 22, 2012 By JulieK

I’ve often talked about my seasonal craftiness :) I sew in the summer when I can leave my sewing machine out on the kitchen table and sew… But, in the fall and winter, it’s all about the yarn!! Last winter was my season of “knit” but my heart has always been a crocheter!! Here’s my first crochet project of the yarn season… I saw the pattern and had to have it, the pattern is the Collette Poncho pattern by Jenny King Designs. I loved the pattern, and realized when I got about half way through that I didn’t actually follow the pattern… The pattern calls for SC, and I used DC throughout… but I LOVE it :) In fact, I’m almost done with one in blues as well!!  The pics are from my phone, so not super crisp… I love the cowl neck, it’s so very comfy!! This one uses 4 balls of Red Heart Boutique Treasure yarn in the Abstract colorway… Oh, the fall colors!!!

Beware! A Halloween Project

September 24, 2012 By JulieK

And, not just any Halloween project… Sean says this was “the best project you’ve ever made” and when I questioned if there was too much glitter (in my head the shapes were just going to be outlined) he chimed in with “you can never have too much glitter.” Truer words were never spoken buddy :) Kathryn’s favorite is the orange glitter ’cause “it looks like it glows!”

This fun project is my next class at Ink About It in Westford, MA!! Class is next Thursday, October 4th at 6:30 and costs just $25. You just need to bring black ink, liquid glue, pop dots, and your regular favorite adhesive!! If you have a Bind it All, bring it along, if not, that’s OK too, we’ll have mine and the store’s for you to use!! So, now… Take a peek at this Halloween fun!!

There’s super cool We R Memory Keepers patterned paper, Tim Holtz Sizzix dies, book pages, black chipboard, and Martha Stewart glitter!! Did I mention that the glitter on the ghosts is Glow in the dark??? That’s a heaping helping of Awesome sauce right there!

Read: A Book Club Keepsake Book!

September 10, 2012 By JulieK

I am thrilled to be teaching another class next week at Ink About It in Westford, MA. I love teaching there, and Linda and Lori are super patient with me this time of year when things get crazy with me and the kiddos going back to school!! Here’s some photos of the book that we’ll be making next Thursday evening… Because I am late getting the sample finished, there’s plenty of space in the class!! So, give the store a call if you want to come!! There’s room :)

Last month, several of the ladies in class were talking about the book clubs that they go to, and I thought it would be great to make a book where we could keep a record of the books we read in our various book clubs! So, here’s the basics of the book… Not pictured are the inserts that will tuck into each of the pockets… The idea is that you’d put a little card with the book information into the month that you read the book! Check back after the class to see the inserts (I’ve got to keep something a surprise for the class :)

Here’s the cover…
Zutter, bind it all, book club, scrapbook, basic grey, Cricut, QuicKutz

And the rest of the pages…

Made for Monday… Handmade Cards

May 21, 2012 By JulieK

I don’t know about you, but I still LOVE to get snail mail (especially when it’s NOT bills!!) A thoughtful card can totally make my entire week. But, as much as I love getting a handwritten note or card, I am not good about putting those beautiful thoughtful cards in the mail to other people to make their day a little sunnier… I teach a monthly card class, and have lots of beautiful cards to choose from, but don’t send them often enough. I’m going to try to send a card a week to someone I know… Want to join me? Doesn’t have to be handmade, just send a little card or handwritten note to someone once a week… Here’s a few cards I’ve made recently that will hopefully have new new homes in the upcoming weeks…

This first one is one of my favorite cards I’ve made… That’s part of the reason I still have it :) I don’t want to send it away!! The flowers are stamped directly on a book page (I love the Used Book Superstore… But, you do have to be slightly careful about the page you use, just make sure there isn’t anything inapporpriate :) and then I colored the flowers with colored pencil. The snippets of patterned papaer are scraps of Fancy Pants papers that I had used on another project, and the Thank You stamp is Technique Tuesday (as was the flower and stem).

Oh, Happy Everything!! The word stamps are very old Stampin’ Up set that I’ve used so many times… I don’t remember who made the dandelion stamp, but I LOVE it. Along the bottom of the paper I used a strip of paper and folded it for the pleat.

Oh, this little chickie stamp jumped into my hand one day at the store and just wouldn’t let me put it down… The stamp is Jillibean Soup… He’s stamped on the background first, then onto the scraps of patterned paper and layered… I think it’s just so cute!

Speaking of cute! Look at that little birdie! Love this new stamp set by Stamps of Life, I just joined their monthly stamp club, and LOVE the stamps… Inside this card it says “It’s your birthday.” Love that you can make a super cute card with just a couple little pieces of patterned paper!

So, who’s with me? Send someone a note today!
