Share the Warmth Wednesday #21

May 27, 2015 By JulieK

Happy Summer! This one was knit mostly while we waited for the movie to start at our first Drive in of the season :) Tomorrowland! It’s hard to tell in the lighting, but it’s another red.

Share the Warmth Wednesday #20

May 20, 2015 By JulieK

This one is orange and knit mostly at Sean’s first baseball game of the year!! Where, by the way, he got on base in his first up of Senior League… And got home when he tagged on a pop fly! I can knit (these scarves) and watch at the same time :)

Share the Warmth Wednesday #18

May 6, 2015 By JulieK

I thought it might be fun to show off a little bit of where I knit! This week’s scarf is Taupe and it was mostly knit at Gymnastics! You can also see my fun new custom made knitting needles! I wanted something just the right size for the scarf (I get annoyed when the ends of the needles catch in my sleeves), so I contacted Indian Lake Artisans, and they made these wonderful 7″ size 13 needles for me!! They are based in Michigan, and their craftsmanship is beautiful! I Look at the turtles on the end :) super cute! They’re made of walnut and I wasn’t 100% sure how I’d like the hexagonal needles, and I felt like I was knitting with pencils the first day or 2, but OMGosh, they are perfect and I love them! They are the perfect size for these scarves, and Pam was great to work with!

Sewing Machine Cover with Tool Pockets

May 5, 2015 By JulieK

I was very excited to go away on my annual Quilt retreat over February vacation at the AWESOME Strong House Inn. I promise I’ll do a whole post about it, even though it was back in February… It is such a great place to go! This year, my sister came with me (again!! She came last year too), and I really wanted to make her something… I decided to make a sewing machine cover that doubled as a mat that holds the most common tools (like scissors and rotary cutters etc). I was out shopping one day with my friend Ryan and found this ADORABLE sewing fabric at Daley by the Yard (just the cutest store, which we found entirely by accident on our way to a yarn store!)…

This sewing machine cover is one long piece, with bias tape along the whole edge (and a pretty coordinating solid on the back) plus, on the front edge, there’s a 4 inch pocket with varying size pockets. There’s pieces of the bias tape for ties to keep it closed when used as a cover. Plus, you can still keep your tools in the pocket while it’s being used as a cover!

Don’t you LOVE that fabric?

Here it is used as the mat so the machine won’t slip around, and your tools are right where you need them!
