Made for Monday (June 20)

June 20, 2011 By JulieK

I talked on Thursday about how much I love the kids’ school :) and last week showed you what I made for all the specialist teachers… For their main teachers (remember, it’s Catholic school), I purchased each one a beautiful rosary bracelet from Graceful Rosaries (which I’ve talked about before… if you’re looking for beautiful religious jewelry or rosaries, please check her out… I’ve purchased a total of 6 adult rosary bracelets, and also had her make a tenner for Sean and a small matching bracelet for Kathryn… Beautiful work).  Ok… So, I got  them each a beautiful bracelet, they each got the little desk set that the other teachers got… And, I made each of them this little card box… It’s just like the one I created for the Cards for the Cure event back in May, but I used Studio Calico patterned papers… I ACTUALLY used papers that I bought, for the reason that I bought them!!! Now, I may have to go and buy more so that I can hoard it :)  Here’s the boxes and the cards that I made for them…

Thankful Thursday!

Well… Would you look at that… A Thankful Thursday on THURSDAY :) go figure…

This week, I would love to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all the teachers and staff at the kids’ school… Honestly, I can’t say enough about what a caring wonderful community they are!! I always try to let them know how much I appreciate them, but words are really not enough… Both kids just thrive there, and according to the standardized test results that just came home, they’re learning a lot academically too :)

I am also thankful to have been chosen (out of a hat :) to be a part of the Parish Council at church… I’m very excited to have the opportunity to be more involved…

And… My niece is graduating from high school on Saturday… How is that possible?? Seems like just yesterday she was born… and now she’s off to college… I remember taking her to Disney when she was 7, just before we got married… Hmmm… I think I need to pull those pictures out… I actually think I know right where they are… I may be back to add a few :) I’ll have to scan them ’cause it was pre-digital camera :) Yup… I’m THAT old :)

Just one more thing for today… 2 more days of school this year :) YEAH!!! One full day tomorrow, then a half day (kids have a half day, not teachers) on Monday!!!  Almost there!!! We’re usually out by now, but all those blasted snow days… It’s made it a long spring, BUT the weather really cooperated, and hasn’t been too hot on the 3rd floor… Another thing to be thankful for :)

Made for Monday!

Yeah!! In this installment of Made for Monday… I have 2 major things :) First is the little table gifts that I made for this past weekend’s Anniversary Crop for the wonderful croppers who came to celebrate 1 year at Late Night Croppers!!  I made these little hand sanitizer containers, and matching post-it note holders… When I finished them, I realized that they would make a cute little gift for the teachers at the kids’ school… So, I made them in a “teacher” version too :)  They are super easy to make, but I think that they are also super cute!!

Here’s the version I made for Late Night Croppers (papers are My Mind’s Eye)… The post-it holders are the little acrylic frames, so they sit on the table at a little angle…

Here’s a side view of the hand sanitizer… You can kind of see how it works… there’s a little piece of velcro holding the flap shut, so it can be opened and closed easily…

And, the teacher’s version… Instead of hoarding this BEAUTIFUL Studio Calico paper, I actually used to to make gifts!!! I may have to purchase more just so I CAN hoard it ’cause I love it so much :) I’m using the apple paper (that goes with the line) for the kids’ main teachers’ gifts in addition to these… I’ll post pics when I’m done… Needs to be soon ’cause their last day is Friday :)

The original idea for the Hand Sanitizer container came from one of my favorite blogs… Dawn’s Stamping Thoughts… BUT, of course, my hand sanitizer was a different size… So, the dimensions etc are completely different… took some trial and error, but I love how they came out!!

And… I have the July Zutter Book for the next class at Ink About It in Westford all done!! It uses the fabulous “Liberty” line by Bo Bunny… But, it’s not necessarily a 4th of July book… Could be used for any fun pictures!!! It uses cover-alls :) Here’s a sneak peek of the front cover… Give the store a call if you want to join in the class!! You don’t need to have your own Zutter machine, I always bring mine :) New people are always welcome!

and a little side view of the little pinwheel…

Whew! That’s about it for now… Still have a bunch of projects to finish up… but making some headway!!

Thankful Thursday!

Wait… What?? It’s Friday?? Friday night??? How did THAT happen?? Actually, I thought it was Monday for most of the morning, and was going crazy trying to figure out why I couldn’t get into the course website for the online course I’m taking… Well, I realized about 3:00 while I was waiting for the kids to come out that it is actually FRIDAY, and it doesn’t open til MONDAY… ‘eh :) that’s OK… It was a crazy week!!

I’m thankful for many things this week!!!  Very successful field days at school, that were better (behavior and participation-wise) than I expected, and more thankfully… OVER :)

The major heat was bad, but not too bad… I was actually out of school on the worst day, so it was a pretty good week that way…

I had a super fun class at Ink About It in Westford last night, everyone loved the project… They have kits available at the store, so you can still pick one up if you want one… It is always fun to see my core group of ladies, plus there’s always a few new ones too… We’re using the Bo Bunny Liberty line for the July class (but it won’t be specifically 4th of July) LOVE those red white and blue papers for summery projects!! It will be completed and in the store this week, so be on the lookout for a sample :)

This weekend is the 1 year anniversary of Late Night Croppers!!! Our little crop space has been open for a whole YEAR!!  And, people seem to like it and enjoy coming!!! We’re not quite full for our Anniversary Super Saturday… So, if anyone’s around and wants to stop by, please let us know… There’s a table gift for everyone (that I made… you’ll see them on my “Made for Monday” post) and of course prizes through the day… PLUS dinner is included… 9am-midnight, only $35… I’ll be there at 9am :) come on over!!! Check out the Wall-o-Cartridges, which has certainly grown over the last year… Even if you can’t crop, come on by and say hello!!

Ok… bed time… getting up early for crop!! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!

Made for Monday

Today’s installment of “Made for Monday” is a preview of my upcoming Zutter Class at Ink About It  in Westford!! We’ll be making this fun 8×8 Summer themed book THIS THURSDAY!! June 9, starting at 6:30pm. If you’re interested, please call the store asap to get on the list! The cover is acrylic, and the back is white chipboard… The inside pages fold out… It uses (super fun) Echo Park patterned papers!!! Here’s the cover… I took the picture outside, so ignore the “tree glare” on the acrylic :) It’s really clear, with the fun stickers on the cover…

When you open the front cover… All the pages have one side that opens out…

and the next side, opens from the middle…

There’s lots more pages, but you’ll have to come to class to see them all!!! Hope to see you Thursday!!!

AND :) I just saw my name as a “Cameo Ribbonista” with May Arts!!! Yeah!!! I am so excited to be working with such fabulous ribbons!!! I’ll be creating projects every other month as a regular guest!!! Thanks so much May Arts!!!! Check out the post here…
