Thankful Thursday (on Friday)

February 25, 2011 By JulieK

This week, I’m thankful for VACATION, where I lose track of what day it is!! Is it ALREADY FRIDAY?? Goodness, vacation goes so fast… But it’s VERY nice to not have to get up at 5am… and not have to go to bed ridiculously early ’cause of the 5am wake up time…

We had a fun time yesterday (hence the missing Thursday post! )… We went to the Mapparium, the Mary Baker Eddy Library (where we saw a 1611 Bible… amazing), the Christian Science Church in Boston, and the MIT museum… Plus P.F.Chang’s for lunch or actually lupper… you know, that 3-4:00 ish time way too late for lunch, and way too early for supper… Super fun time…

Here’s photo of the kiddos just before we went into the Mapparium… Not a great pic ’cause it was from my phone… Will have to take the pics off my camera soon :) and add them…

Thankful Thursday!!

February 17, 2011 By JulieK

So, I probably shouldn’t start my “Thankful Thursday” post with “What’s so Thankful about it??” Right? It’s only Thursday, and I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck!! BUT in all honesty, if this crazy week is “bad” then I have a LOT to be thankful for… it’s all in perspective, right? If I look around, then I really see how very lucky I am…

In this crazy week… with book reports, dentist appointments, doctor appointments, classes, work, more classes, meetings, and a miserable winter bug visiting the house… eh, we’ve got it pretty good :)

So… I’m thankful that we live so close to friends and family that we can rely on to help out when our schedules don’t match up and both adults need to be in different places at the same time…

I’m VERY thankful that my “issues” this week seem to be the effects of a virus and not the med that is making my migraines managable… I was so afraid that I’d have to come off the new med, and honestly, my migraines have been so much better (fewer, and when I get them, I can make them go away pretty quickly… AND they don’t come back)…

Today and Tomorrow it’s supposed to be 50+ degrees… Yes indeed, something to be thankful for this snow-filled winter!!!

I’m teaching a class tonight at Ink About It (in Westford) and on Sunday, I’m teaching a class at The Crop Shop’s Winter Wonderland weekend event… I’m so excited, the ladies in the classes are always so much fun!!! I can’t wait!!!

The kiddos have been especially cute the last couple days, even though neither has been feeling great… Sean and I have been working on his big book report, and Kathryn has been making lots of little crafty projects…

I know there’s more… but I better get sorting for tonight’s class :)

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

February 16, 2011 By JulieK

Well… I guess technically, it’s “Happy Day After Valentine’s Day” but I wanted to share the little projects I made with the kids for their classes… I had an idea in my head, and was looking for measurements for a pencil holder for the kids to give to their classes… Here’s the post I found to make an adorable little holder that holds 3 pencils… (not at all what I was looking for, but HAD to make it when I saw it…)  Be Creative With Nicole

I cut and scored all of the papers (Kathryn wanted white, Sean wanted kraft), then let them pick a Valentine stamp to use (Many thanks to Ryan for the use of her big binder-o-stamps!!) Now, Sean picks a couple of simple stamps that he stamped using cranberry colored ink… Kathryn, I didn’t realize, chose her stamp (be mine, or else… perfect for her personality!!) and was planning to color them in… Had I know that, I would have had her stamp with black ink… oh well!! They are still cute I think :) I will just mention, that it took longer than I thought to cut and score 20 for each of the kids… now, who’s lame-brained idea was it to MAKE Valentine’s Day cards?? oh, right… mine… :) Love to make stuff :)

Here’s Sean’s

and here’s Kathryn’s

While they were stamping… I made some cards for their teachers… I used the same idea as the card club cards I made last month… But pulled out some vintage Scenic Route paper (man, I still miss Scenic Route!!) and Kraft cardstock… and filled them with yummy chocolate squares…

Thankful Thursdays

February 10, 2011 By JulieK

Welcome to the first installment of “Thankful Thursdays!” One of my new year’s resolutions was my word of the year… Blessings…  I want to stop and be reminded daily of just how darn lucky I am, and how blessed every single day… Not an easy task when you’re tired and cranky!!! So, what better way to be reminded than to sit down at least once a week and really think about what I’m thankful for…  Most likely won’t be anything remotely prophetic :) BUT here it goes…

This week, I’m thankful for…

1. No-No school days this week!!! We actually have (so far at least, and no snow in the forecast for tomorrow) a 5 day work week!! Yeah!!! Maybe we won’t be in school ’til August!! It’s so hard to get anything finished with so many days off…

2. Forgiveness… I was able to go to 2 of the 4 “parish retreat” events this week… Fr. Michael was very inspirational and I’m very glad that I went to Sunday and Monday evening’s discussions.

3. Random things that make you laugh… Like, the Ozzy/Bieber commercial… OmGosh, cracks me up every time!!!

4. Kathryn’s stomach bug only lasted one day… poor little monkey was feeling pretty lousy, but it went by quick…

5. Shhh… this one’s a secret… I’m afraid to jinx anything… but I have to say that the new medicine to stave off migraines is actually helping… BUT don’t tell my head that, I don’t want it to hear… I went from having 10-12 days of migraine a month (like, throwing up, multiple needs of Imitrex migraines)… to January’s 3 day’s of migraine… you read that right… THREE!!! AND each of the days, I was able to take one single Imitrex and it went away and didn’t come back!!!  Horray!!! AND… It’s February 10th and not a single migraine yet this month… shhhhhhhh don’t jinx it…

That’s about all I have at the moment… I’m having a crabby day today… See, maybe thinking of good things will help chase the crankies away!
